Identity crisis

Post by NannyP » 29 Sep 2013, 21:05

Image

3 week old Lavender Pekins wondering whether she's their real mum.

Possible real father (there are 2)

Hoping they're all hens, as we only have one left.

At a guess i,d say surrogate although hard to tell as i can only see her ass in the pic, cock looks very nice if he is the sire, they do look very like mini pullets, good luck with them.

Thanks, both coqs look as good. Yes, surrogate (available broody).

Looking at their beaks, only one has a completely dark beak, and from memory, I have a feeling the other 5 could well be coqs! Annoying, as they're not really edible.

Of course they are edible perfect for Spatchcock covered with seasoning of your choice and cooked on BBQ or in the oven :)

I don't think I could eat Pekins. They're pets. The others yes, but not the Pekins

Oh they are adorable, I love the possible dad and wonder about the looks of the surrogate mom.

This is their birth mum, surrogating for some other chicks.

This is the broody (surrogate) who hatched them.

I am pretty sure now there is only one hen, I can see a slight difference in head shape and the beak colour.
