This is a pic of my barbu d'uccle girl ~ no idea what the colouring is called ~ probably 'beautiful' or 'lovely' ! She's even got the little cheek muffs coming

I nearly got one of those and then saw the one I came home with. I just liked her colouring and she was different.

Can anyone tell me if cuckoo colour breeds true with d'uccles? I bought some cuckoo d'uccle eggs on ebay and they've hatched lavender, black and mille fleur. The seller says they are 'throwbacks', is she right or just pulling a fast one? I'd be grateful for any comments please....

I thought (and i could be wrong) that to be classified as a pure breed that a bird has to breed true 3 times in a row. which would imply that you wouldn't get that many throwbacks. Yet again i could be wrong but I'd surmise that her stock is not truly pure, she's pulling a fast one or I'm wrong. I'd post about it in the general section asking about pure breeds breeding true to be honest

Its only the colour that is in question gregg not the breed.

surely the colour would breed true though. A colour surely has to breed true as well. My golden brahmas don't suddenly change colour or have throwbacks... But i bet if I randomly bred something else into them they might.

anyway if i'm wrong then say i'm wrong :P
