chook help

Post by Exchequer » 30 Jul 2014, 12:58

Hi, i am after some chook identification help please :)
I have been given 3 lovely identical pullets but i have no idea what breed/cross they are! If anyone has any ideas that would be great! Photo attached!
I also have another cross bred pullet. she obviously has silkie in her by the look of her face but not sure what else she is crossed with. She is smooth feathered with feathered feet and an extra toe on each foot, she has a small crest and is black with some gold feathers on her neck. i will try to get a pic of her.
Thanks in advance

The one in the pic has the eye head of either and Australorp or Croad Langshan to me anyway, whatever else is in the mix i don't know, nice looking pullet which should make a good layer and that would be all that would concern me.

I'd go with Austalorp, albeit a slim one. Both Croad and Modern Langshan need leg feathers.
Guinea fowl & a lot of surplus poultry equipment.

Are they bantam or LF? Difficult to tell from the (excellent) photo.

I would say they are large bantams... There pretty dainty but not afraid to muck in with all the others!

Someone I know on Facebook has just posted an almost identical picture...saying it's a Sumatra.... maybe yours is too. ;)
