If you also want your own fruit and veg, as well as eggs and chickens, here's the area to discuss it.

Hi all,

I am new to gardening and don't really know what can be grown in winter, it could be either in the green-house or in the garden. Also when should I plant them

Thanks in advance

I'm useless at growing things through the winter, my soil is wet and as we are just a couple of miles from the coast the wind comes off the Atlantic and cuts you in half if you stand to long in one place.
But in the past i've had Brussel sprouts, Swiss Chard, parsnips and Spring cabbage that I've over wintered but they all need starting off earlier in the year. Suppose you could buy in a few plants to set out now.
In the greenhouse i can keep tomatoes going until well after Christmas with out heat.
Sorry I'm not much help to you, hope someone comes along with some proper advice.
