It hasn't arrived yet but as I understand it any new colours approved by the standards will be included and obviously any changes in the standards. Other than that its "suck it and see". It is a relatively expensive book but well worth it for any serious poultry breeder and fancier - and essential is you are showing birds. I presume - at least in the UK - it can be loaned from a Library but I know you are in France MOJO.

British Poultry Standards comes in Hardback. I am also trying to source the French equivalent and will let you know if I am successful. There must be a standards book to serve as a 'bible' for the judges. Regards Jan - OH Richard.

I got the new standards a month or so ago - it is not good  While the text is apparently fine and some silly mistakes have been corrected (like the underfluff colour of Lakenvelders which was wrong before) but the photographic reproduction is awful.

Some of the photos are John Tarren images that have been used in the previous edition and other books but the reproduction in the new edition makes them vary from too dark to see, over saturated or just out of focus  Many other photos/paintings in the book are poor too.

A real waste of £60 as far as I'm concerned, much better to get a secondhand copy of the last edition for about £20!

They are selling a used copy of the 5th Edition for £122.75 + £2.75 p&p on Amazon.

I've seen the 5th edition go for c. £20-30 on ebay. Current edition is the sixth.

5th edition is a rare as hens teeth. I have been looking for a couple of months. Everyone must be hanging on to it if the 6th is as bad as Magpie says.

£56 for the 6th edition  what is it bound in rare yak leather embossed in gold leaf?

When I bought the fifth edition the cost was around £50 so not much of an increase - although from what I have heard the print/paper quality is not that good for the latest edition. Richard
